Assalam o Alaiqum,
I am a regular reader of your columns from a long time. I am used to share your every column within my whole (professional & personal) network on the very same day. You can very well understand my ‘faith’ upon your writing capability & honesty; from selection of words to research at topic!
I am really shocked to see your yesterday’s column “Shamim Tawaif _ part 1”. Your comment (pasted below) about “wazaif” has really disappointed me. I’d never thought such an irresponsible & anti-Islam sentence from such a learned & research based writer.
Being a writer of such a high readership, you have committed a nonprofessional act by showing one side of picture (which is also not true in its nature). Please take a sample of those recommendations or meet those people who are really indulged into such wazaif & just get their feedback or review their life. You will see heads of departments/multinational companies who are regularly recite hundreds of thousands of holy words & offer 50-100 nawafil daily along with living such a busy social & professional life. This is what we call “BARKAT” in time & life, which cannot be measured with any logical scales (…and you very well know about this, I suppose). Even modern management gurus like Stephen Covey are now preaching about four quadrants of life i.e. Social, Physical, Mental & Spiritual. They strongly recommend focusing on all 4 for getting into an effective life or to become a leader!
Did you ever think about the person you have quoted in your same column? Who was he? I don’t know about the climax of your column but you have missed, my dear. I am not a writer but a marketing person, but I can write 10 columns on the line you have written about (1) relief through wazaif (2) non-practical life afterwards (3) 3-4K people’s bread resource (4) evolution of society. This whole sentence is realistically far away from the actual perspective.
This only verse of Qur’an is the answer of your statement:
“Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction”.
(Para 13 – Aaya 28)
A question can be raised here; what are the ways of remembrance of Allah? That’s up to you & Islamic scholars. To me; wazaif are top of them!!!
Just like; shamim tawaif is not the ONLY source to become a “mentor” or “Wali Allah”…so you should have some exceptions here as well (which is although not required at all, as you are not the attesting authority upon this great spiritual world & mechanism). Being writer of multiple topics, you should have insight of all school of thoughts as a most neutral observer! I have hundreds of proof & witnesses, where people have become more productive & practical citizen/Muslim due to wazaif & having connection with Aulia karaam. Your comparison of this very important branch of Islam with tranquillizers is really heartbreaking & absolutely irrational.
I pray for your health, peace & wisdom. May Allah guide you towards HIS blessings.
Take care,
Ajaz

Dear Javed Sahib,
Being a regular reader of your writings,I have noted that you have started to narrate your own success sotries and spiritual experiences with a more than desired share of a reader. The spiritual meditation recommended in your views is not a new idea for our middle class but has not delivered much as we are still living with all social and religious odds of our society. What we need is not a question as simple as you describe in your columns.Romanticism and poetic version of issues should be limited to fiction ,not journalism
